Apparently those are the main ingredients when making cake frosting. Who knew? I have always been more of a Betty Crocker-peel-the-lid-off-the-can kind of gal... anyway, the point being that today I get to learn all about that kind of stuff as I am going to take a cake decorating class!
I have been wanting to do this for a while now and so when my friend Kelley asked if I was interested, I was excited to go! Of course Mike interjected that I really should be taking a pie making class as we all love pie...so perhaps I can talk my Aunt Kathy into teaching me this summer :-)
Here is a walk down birthday memory lane with some cakes from the past...

Fun! My first few cakes are not on here but were very heavy with the frosting and coconut flakes as I found out early that they hide any rough spots in the cake extremely well!
This class we will be learning to make flowers and borders...which of course will come in handy for all of the boy cakes that I make. ha! Wish me luck.
On a funny note, at least to me - I was noticing that most of these cakes I use the same platters which are old glass trays from microwaves of the past. They are the perfect size and clear! How is that for re-purposing.

I wondered why I keep waking up with coconut flakes on my face.
That spongebob one is quite impressive! I have a request for that now from a nosy little one who was peering over my shoulder!
That wasn't coconut on your face...they were boogers. OK, who said that?
Laura, I have seen your talents with the cake - you could totally whip up a Sponge Bob cake for dessert tonight!
