It's Saturday night, I guess that makes it all right...

Tonight we went to a park to enjoy a concert of local musicians put on by a group called Geek Aid. (Thanks for the heads up Tracy!) We didn't make it there until the last act due in part to a few shenanigans by the younger members of the family, but we had an enjoyable time once there.

As there were only two food vendors we opted to skip over the hot dog cart and headed to the truck that was selling jambalaya and gumbo. I will say that we were not disappointed with our selection! I have never been to the River City Slims restaurant before, but after tasting their food, I have definitely added it to my list of places to go. Perhaps that will take care of my fix when I start craving alligator -- as opposed to driving all the way to Detroit to go to Fishbone's!

On a girly side note, I treated myself to this cute garnet bracelet from one of the vendors. After the park we decided to skip the favored Meijer store and headed over to the new 24-hour mega Walmart for a few provisions (fishing gear and boat snacks for Sunday's fishing trip for the boys, a few bottles of vino for the adults.... )

Good Lord, is this what our Saturday night has come too!!??

Not to be outdone by the whole entertaining experience that is Walmart, Michael spotted this praying mantis on the hood of the car as we were getting ready to go home. And yes Auntie Kris, we all fondly remembered and reminisced about the Christmas of the run-away praying mantis babies!!! For those not lucky enough to be familiar with that story, let you be forewarned against bringing mysterious cocoons into your house and then forgetting about them!
