Our nephew Stephen is participating in the Regional Spelling Bee for his area this morning after beating out all of the other students in his school, including eight graders, to win their Spelling Bee a week or so ago! Oh, and did I mention he was only in the 6th grade!!!!!
This competitive spelling prowess certainly explains all of the animated "discussions" between the nephews over Thanksgiving break regarding the spelling (let alone pronunciation!) of the word "antidisestablishmentarism" !

And speaking of spelling bees...for anyone who enjoys a good documentary, this movie is a hoot. We rented it a few years back and it was great.

Interesting note on this: Today's competetion is being hosted at the school that Stephen previously (and unhappily) attended. Spelling bee victories are the best revenge.
Update: Stephen came in 4th place! He did a fabulous job! I can't imagine what it took to groom the kids who placed above him...they were truly deserving of their success.
I'm happy to report that visiting our "ex" was fine...happy to come home to our new steady! The old principle (cause of said departure) is as mean and craggy as I remembered. I almost gave our new principle a kiss on the lips!! All is well...
Congratulations Stephen! We are so proud of you - that is a huge accomplishment :-) Now Kris, the real question remains, did you exchange any pleasantries with your old friend?! HA! I am sure she was cursing you under her breath!!! ha ha!
I on the other hand, was never meant for such spelling success. My Mom sent me an email informing me that I had spelled "antidisestablishmentarianism" wrong in my post. I believe that she had her own share of spelling success...perhaps it skips a generation. I happily pass along the spelling prowess to Michael!!!
