Earlier this week Erick and I attended Ash Wednesday Mass with Michael at school. Of course during the sermon the priest talks about how Lent is a time for letting go of sinful ways and reflecting on our behavior among other things. Well, apparently Erick was using his selective listening skills because as soon as we walked outside the church doors he reached down and grabbed a fist full of snow and started wiping the ashes off his forehead. Nice. Very respectful.
In other news though, we did receive a fantastic report card for him this week so at least I know that he is keeping his shenanigans to a minimum while at school :-) Great job Speedo!!
And we are happy to say that Mike returned safely from his travels on Wednesday! On the agenda tonight is a trip to an all you can eat sushi restaurant that he has heard some good reviews about from some friends. Needless to say, I am breaking out the stretchy pants for the occasion. Ha!

Erick also tossed out the following perfectly-timed witticism while I was helping Michael with his religion homework.
The task was to write some sentences about how you, as a young person, could be more like Jesus.
Me: Well, Michael, you could say that maybe you could help the sick. Or maybe help your friends.
Michael (unconvinced): I guess...
Me: Well, let's think of what Jesus did. He, um, he did
Erick: The hokey pokey?
And the conversation was fully derailed. Thanks, Speed.
