Just when I think that my children can't get any weirder

Yesterday as we were driving home from dinner out at our favorite sushi restaurant in town, I turn around to find the following scene in the back of the car (picture Michael instead of a golden statute):

Michael was in full meditation complete with "criss-cross applesauce" legs (to borrow a term for sitting "Indian style" from preschool), eyes tightly shut, and fingers in meditation form ala middle and thumb fingers touching.

He stayed that way for a good couple of minutes before snapping out of it. When we asked him what he was doing he replied that it helps him stay quiet and makes time go faster. Huh. Neat trick. I am definitely a fan as the car ride was much quieter than usual!

Well, today is all about ME!! The big 34th birthday! Yeah! Actually I have been stretching the Mother's Day/Birthday celebration out over these last few days. Last night we went out for my birthday meal as I didn't feel like cooking and no one (uh-hmmm, Mike...) was interested in eating the random leftovers I was going to serve for dinner. Can't say as I blamed him and I wasn't going to put up a fight so we packed up the boys and headed out for a lovely dinner! Thanks boys :-)

And tonight I will be eating off of this plate....

When Mike was younger his Mom did a fun thing of serving meals on this plate if someone was sick or had a special day like a birthday. We enjoy the plate now and carry on the tradition. It has been great fun watching the boys "fight" over who gets to eat off of the special plate when I randomly pull it out for a meal. But, as there is no disputing it's MY day today, I get the plate! Mu-ha-ha!!!!
