Last weekend we again loaded up the car but this time headed to Detroit to visit the family. It was a whirlwind visit, but we had a great time nonetheless and I will give you some highlights.
Our visit started off with Mike and I going out on a semi-date Friday night after dropping the kids off at the grandparents house. I am ashamed to say, or at least probably should be, that it literally was one of those drop the kids and bags off, say a quick hello and GET OUT scenarios!!! I don't think we peeled out of the driveway too loudly... During our evening we went to one of our favorite bars, the Belguim goodness known as the Cadieux Cafe. It might not look like much, but it is a great place.
There was a live band who was pretty decent, but we were about 2 of 12 people in the audience and the music was turned up WAY TOO LOUD. I am old. There, I said it.
A little history: this bar was where I had my first LEGAL beer many, many, many years ago. (not that I was drinking before my 21st birthday Mom and Dad...)
Saturday morning was dedicated to visiting family. My Aunt Elaine is in the hospital right now recovering from surgery so Mom, Cheryl and I visited her and I am very happy to say that she looks great and is a real fighter! That evening my cousins came over for a BBQ at my parents house and it was nice seeing them as I don't get to see them nearly enough.
At the top of the kids list for our visit was a trip to the splash pad at the park where we headed Saturday afternoon. While it was a gorgeous day, I thought it was way too cold to go in the water but the boys had a blast.
On Sunday we went to a Tiger's game and I have to say that Comerica Park is a fantastic ball park. Unfortunately the Tigers lost, but it was still fun to go watch and we saw a grand slam to boot. Granted it was for the Twins, but still pretty cool.

It looks like we will have to turn our hometown sports hopes to the Wings this year! Go Wings!!!!
And finally some more pictures...

Hey, I've been there--isn't there where you can do feather bowling??
That's right! The one and the ONLY place to go feather bowling!
Looks like it was a great day for the game anyway--so, you missed the game in which the Tigers scored the 19 runs? I think they kind of did themselves in after that. Let's not score all of the runs for the season in one game! Nonetheless, so fun! I love baseball!!
There actually is another feather bowling place in Mt. Clemens. Here is its website. http://www.bathcitybistro.com/ I get goose bumps seeing Michael and Erick swimming b/c I know how chilly it was. So much fun to have so much "activity" over the weekend. The ball game was fun (except for the outcome). Love the pictures... GMaB
