Erickson's First Day of School

Erickson had his first day of Young 5's today and I think I will be OK... I thought that it would be so easy dropping him off as I have been so looking forward to having some time to myself, yet as soon as we crossed the threshold of the classroom I started to get choked up. Esh. Fortunately I decided that it would be very lame to start crying in the classroom and that it wouldn't help E with any separation issues he might be having, so I stayed strong and worked past it...wait, you mean this post wasn't about me and my first day of school....hmmm...

Well, I have dropped Erick off in what I assume will be a great first day. I left him shortly after he introduced himself to a little boy named Denis who was putting a puzzle together and who asked E if he wanted to play with him. I will report more following pick-up but I am certain he will enjoy the day! After leaving Erick I said hello to Michael as it was lunch time. It is always fun seeing him and his buddies at school and I even had the honor of being invited by Michael to come out to the playground with them when they were finished eating. I know that I should hold on to these times as I am certain that the point where it is uncool to be seen with your parents in the presence of other humans will be here sooner than I like to think about.

That picture of Michael and his crew is funny. You're a good mom for being sad, better for holding your emotional ground until you left. It's going to be a great year!

I heard that there are SOME moms out there who barely slow down to boot their kids out of the car for preschool - can you imagine?
fun pictures... and how sweet that Michael wanted you out there with him, I'm figuring in two or three years those days are over for a while.

I'm just sick to see you dropping that 2 year old off at school! Where did all the time go? And, how come my very-much younger brother has caught up to my age?

Seriously, the kids look so happy and healthy! It's all that good mid-west mothering. I hope the new school is working out well.
