It appears that I have been a slacker these last few days and so I decided I should put a few high lights from last week up before we get too far into the new week ahead of us. So here goes...
Erickson had a great first week of school and reported back after the first day that Denis (with ONE "n") is totally his best friend. They seemed to have clicked pretty well and have played together every day at school. On Friday as I was dropping Erick off, Denis came over to say "hi" and told Erick that he had brought lunch for them and then proceeds to pull a baggy containing two Gatorade drinks and some bags of fruit snacks out of his backpack. I gave a quizzical look to the teacher who informed Denis that he needed to put them away. I never did figure out if they were smuggled into his backpack or if his mom knew that he brought them.
Speedo has shared a couple of other funny little anecdotes about class, or more specifically about the kids in class - I dare say he is like a little gossip. I am trying not to encourage it, but he is rather hysterical when he relays the days events. For instance on Thursday he delighted in giving an animated demonstration on how a kid was being bossy telling everyone where to put stuff with an exaggerated, "NO! That goes HERE." and "No, that goes THERE" all the while throwing his arms to the left or right with his hips going in the opposite direction... And then on Friday he revealed that he was grossed out by a girl who was "actually eating her hair". Come to find out she was more likely chewing on it and not eating it...Still.
Michael seemed to move past his first week jitters and had a great first full week. He had his first spelling test for the year on Friday and got them all right :-) We will try to keep up his stellar spelling streak from last year! He is also starting to make friends with some of the new kids in his class. He has so many kids from last year in his class so he has his comfort zone, but we have been trying to encourage him to meet the other kids in class too which I know he will do over the next few weeks.
Michael also started soccer and absolutely loved it! Both boys have games this Saturday which I am so excited to go watch!
On more Michael news, Saturday night was his first sleep over at his friend Carson's house. He had a great time watching a movie, eating pop corn and pizza and goofing off! Such fun :-) And it sounds like they actually didn't get to bed too late!
On a personal note, I just finished reading a great book by Brad Meltzer, who I have not read before, but will definitely be reading all of the rest of his books. Talk about a fast moving and great read! Of course as I have been plowing through this book over the last two days Mike let me know tonight, as he does whenever I go through reading binges, that whenever I bring a book into the house he gets neglected. So sad :-( Apparently I get a little absorbed in my reading and kind of leave the rest of the family to fend for themselves...is that wrong? I can't always be the entertainer or glue can I? ha! What else am I supposed to do when we have had rain for about two day straight!
Well seeing that I have written a weee bit longer than anticipated I shall say good night as it is almost midnight, I need some shut eye, and I hear someone moving around upstairs...

Glad to hear both boys are doing well at school. And, it's good to know that you've been spelling "Denis" correctly, but it begs the question, "why do people do that?!"
Of course you like Brad--we have the same birthday! (No, I didn't just know that--I had to look up what he wrote and learned he's EXACTLY 4 years older then I am)
