Home, Sweet Home

Last Thursday Mike packed up his bags and headed down to Ohio to see his Dad who is recovering from back surgery. Thankfully it sounds like Grandpa Lew is rebounding nicely and they are enjoying their visit. Mike is the head chef for the week and has been enjoying all of the "fun" involved with grocery shopping, preparing all their meals, and all that entails. I imagine he will be ready for a rest when he gets home.

So instead of moping around here by ourselves while Mike is away (READ: Instead of watching the boys all by my lonesome), I kept my sanity in check and packed up the car and headed east to my parent's house for a nice, long weekend. And so I shall begin a nice, long post full of my ramblings and pictures of my two favorite subjects (I took a ton as you will see)...

After arriving early Friday we joined my dad for a delicious lunch before heading to my parent's house for a pit stop and then off to the park. Despite a ton of rain throughout the weekend, the boys logged plenty of hours playing by and in the water. They were extremely pleased to find that there were plenty of fish flies all over the place. GAG ! They got a kick out of collecting them and putting them on their loving mother. Funny, but I don't remember finding as much enjoyment from the stinky bugs when I was a kid. We even found a few stow-aways on the car when we got home, to which Erick exclaimed that now we could have them here too because it could make babies! ha!

Saturday night we had a nice visit with my cousin Elaine Louise and went to a regatta that, unfortunately was mostly rained out and over by the time we ventured out of the house. We managed to make the most of it though and had an enjoyable evening...Afterwards as the sun decided to come out, I took the boys to the War Memorial next door to look around as it is a gorgeous place...
Michael's statutes imitation...
On Sunday we went to my friend Beth's house to celebrate her adorable little daughter's first birthday. It was so great visiting with her family and my other friend, Elena and I am still amazed at how crazy it is seeing friends that I grew up with with children of their own!
A few more pictures from the weekend...
As nice as it was to be away, I anxiously await tonight when I get to sleep in my own king-sized bed, without being sandwiched between two bed-hogging little boys. And with that I say good night as I am turning in early. Bonsoir!

Great photos! Looks like lots of fun:) Not to be creepy, but your 2nd friend somehow looks familiar to me. Best wishes to Mike's dad for a quick recovery.

Did you do a drive-by of my house? Hope the plants I planted are still alive! HA!HA!

My Grandma was supposed to have her house painted but couldn't because of the May Flies--I think they're just like your new little friends. She said they only live 24 hours--is that true?

They don't live very long that is for sure, but they are so plentiful that you would never know it! And they smell horrible - did I mention that already?
