Michael's baseball season officially kicked off yesterday with a fun, albeit, FREEZING AND WINDY, opening day ceremony. His team also had their first game yesterday and they won! Yahoo!! What a great way to start the season. We had a great time cheering Michael and his team on to their first victory.

Erickson did his best to stay warm. Fortunately I had blankets in my car as it felt like winter all over again. It went from 80 degrees on Friday to 40 degrees Saturday morning. The poor kids playing ball were FREEZING. And the "great" thing is that there is snow in the forecast for Mikey's next game. Welcome to Michigan!
We rounded out the day by heading to our favorite Chinese restaurant, The Far East for a delicious dinner and then on to Craig's Cruisers for some family fun. What inspired us to go there I am not quite sure as it is not a typical destination for us, but the boys had a blast playing video games and a shortened round of miniature golf as we were all freezing.
Finally, fathers hide your daughters...
I believe I have alluded previously to the fact that Erickson is a bit girl-crazy.
His first major crush that we can recall started two years ago on my cousin Susie's adorable daughter, Helena. With the help of his father, Erickson snipped a sprig off a flower bush and give her some flowers and continued to talk about her for weeks afterwards. It is a memory still talked about in our family as it was one of the sweetest things ever. This photo of the cousins was taken that same weekend...
Well, last night I was watching a show on PBS and a commercial came on for a play coming to town called Spamalot. During the commercial a scantily clad woman is chased across the stage and is on the screen for seriously, 2 seconds. There are also other showgirl looking dancers who are dressed up in costumes. Erick starts laughing his head off and the conversation goes as follows:
E "I want to see that again. Can you rewind it."
Me "Erick, it was a commercial. Why would you want to see that again?"
E "There was a BRA (obnoxious giggling) and girl tidy-whities." More hysterical laughing followed by, "I want to see the bra, I loved the braaaa."
OK then.

It's exactly what you get for breast feeding that child so long!! Pre-verts!! :)
BTW, I think all boys "love the braaaa."
Kris obviously doesn't know my landlords, Brian and his Filipino garden boy Jaypee. No bra love there.
It pains me that Michael got stuck in a Cardinals uniform. But it's still damn cute. When do they play the Cubs?
First game was against the much more talented Cubs squad. Alas, Cards won 5-0. We had a ringer pitching to start, made all the difference. Michael went 0 for 2, but didn't understand the concept of balls/walk, thought it better to swing every time. We've correct that, but it was pretty funny watching him swat overhead like a charge-the-net lob return.
But seriously Auntie Kris, how long is too long? HA! Some questions are better left unanswered. Ah-hem. Anyway...love the bra!
And Claude, EVERYONE loves the bra on some level.
Yes, I am the queen of too long!!
Wasn't it Erick who pointed out my "nibbles" in a too-tight t-shirt on one of your visits?
You are right about the bra-love...you either love to look or you love to wear!! It's one or the other! However it sounds like your neighbors might be lucky enough to have it both ways!!
BTW-Uncle Mike, you aren't a bitter stage parent, are you? Baseball sucks until they are older anyway. I hated those games...I called them "over-throw-a-thons". However, there is something worse:TRACK MEETS!!
Uncle Claude, want to come visit for (my) Michael's confirmation? It'll be a rocking time!!
Ahhhh, yes, I had forgotten that little gem but it all comes rushing back to me now. I especially liked how he looked right at you as he was saying it - like it was a challenge. Always good for a laugh he is! BTW, I have never seen anyone change shirts so quickly!
That will be a fun memory to bring up at his high school graduation party or something.
I think we will just shelve that little "gem". I don't want to scare the little children with that image...especially as I age.
pah-lease. We should all be so lucky :-)
