Yesterday I spent the greater part of the day making the following:14 medium-large apples cooked down to 4.5 lovely pints of apple butter. At least I was aiming for apple butter. My other option is to call it really THICK apple sauce.
This next batch might become more apple bread...

BAKE THE %@*&^!# PIE!
You could always make an apple pie and freeze it for Thanksgiving. Apple picking is tricky since they are so big. It doesn't take too much time to pick a giant bushel. Berries are harder to over-pick!
Your apple butter looks so good! Apple dumplings? Apple soup? Applewiches? Appleloaf? Apple tetrazzini? Just apply the same after-turkey approach. You should be fine.
I will make the pie -- I just hesitate with Aunt Kathy's apple pie so fresh on your palate. Don't want to disappoint.
Hmmmm, apple tetrazzini sounds great! I have a dozen muffins and a 9X9 pan in the oven - I am hoping that the bread will freeze as well as banana bread. And freezing a pie is a great idea - would you cook it first or just put the raw ingredients in the unbaked pie shell and freeze that or cook it first? Teach me o' wise one...
Challenge: Issue your wise counsel while remembering that this is a boy site, not Martha Stewart's underwear drawer.
Boys like pie. duh.
I think I would freeze it raw. Since the apples are cooked, I'd follow all the directions until the final baking. Maybe you should ask your resident pie guru, Aunt Kathy???
"Raw" is a very boy-word too.
I would ask Aunt Kathy, and will probably call her for her crust recipe (it is FABULOUS!!!), but she is fresh pie only kind of lady.
And nicely played with the "duh" and "raw" contributions - that really sells the "NON- Martha Stewart underwear drawer" feeling for all those concerned!
Make it hypothetical..."If someone were stupid enough to freeze a pie, how would you do it?"
:)
