We have not fallen off of the face of the earth. At least not yet. Time just keeps clicking on by and we have been pretty busy which means I should have tons to blog about. It has been more a matter of finding the time and remembering what exactly it is that we have been doing!
Friday night the boys had a carnival at school. They had fun playing the games, seeing their friends and collecting all of the little prizes... which I have found in various stages of destruction over these last few days. Broken puzzle piece here, sticky creature stuck to the ceiling there. It is such fun for them to take everything apart, while I get the satisfaction of throwing away the broken pieces.
Saturday was a great soccer day! Erickson scored his first goal of the season and played the hardest we have ever seen him play! I was so proud of him as he has been a little timid in games past, but he finally let loose and played a fantastic game. Michael continued his scoring streak and had a great game as well adding two more goals to his list. I am sad that this Saturday will be their final games of the season. After that we will have to move on to a new sport...I am looking into swimming for the winter time. Must keep their plethora of energy focused!
We also baked our Amish Friendship Bread over the weekend which was delicious! The recipe made two loaves which were quickly devoured in two days. And that was with me hiding a loaf after the first day or we probably could have eaten the whole thing in one day. Piggish? Most definitely.
On Monday Erickson had his first field trip of the year to a local farm for some apple picking, animal petting and donut eating. It was fun watching him play with his friends from class and it was nice to be able to put some names with faces. Lots of new kids to meet this year!
Sadly, Mike has left us for the week to check out the baked beans in Boston so the boys are now acting as the "men" of the house so-to-speak. Fortunately we have plenty slated on the calendar to keep busy so hopefully the days should pass quickly.

Thank God you are back! I was worried. :)
Is that a real cow?
I had the absolute honor of opening my suitcase to find not only strategically placed snacks (always welcome), but a picture wishing me well in what was a very (very) difficult-to-prepare presentation.
The illustration showed a picture of a heavily-armed spaceman labeled "Future" and a sword-wielding knight labeled "Past" unified with this caption:
"Victory has always been the same."
I laughed, teared up a bit, and laughed some more. "Lucky" doesn't cover how I feel.
Imagining the cheers you must be doing for both Michael & Erickson - the chants of "Go Miche!!!" Ring in my ears (or mind). Way to go boys!!! One question... Was that 2%, 1%, 1/2% or skim milk that Erick was laboring to get?
If you blow up the photo of Erick "milking", the udders look like hot dogs!!
Cow milking, Amish friendship bread...what's next a horse-drwan buggy? What is going on up there???
They do look like hot dogs and I am pretty certain that was the skimmest of milk you can get - almost like water! ha!
We will be candle making this weekend and then I will have Mike uninstall our electricity when he returns. How I will continue blogging with no computer I have yet to figure out!
Solar power, baby! You just can't blog at night!
