Happy Halloween!
Yesterday the boys and I scooped out our pumpkins in preparation for carving. Here are some pics of the little ones hard at work. I am sad to say that several of our pumpkins were attacked by squirrels at some point or another. I will be carving the faces they drew later today - sometime in between working in the library at school, helping out with Erick's class Halloween party and returning a bag of tootsie-pops to Big Lots after discovering that the bag had been cut open at some point and taped shut. Uh, yeah. OK, so don't ask how in the world I missed that little detail...nasty.

Speedo still has a bit of his cough, but he is well enough that he returned to school yesterday and will go trick-or-treating tonight. Since the boys wanted to go dressed as the skeletons they were last year, this year has been pretty tame in the lead up to Halloween. Usually there is either a frantic attempt by me to complete costumes or a few trips to the store to pick something out. This year I enjoyed doing neither! Is that so terribly wrong to admit? I think not!

Yes. My wife shops at Big Lots.
And she's shocked to learn that their candy is sub-standard.
Oy, the shame.
Listen. When in need of inexpensive (fancy word for cheap) treats for parties and Halloween, you really can't beat their price. OK, well maybe this would be a good instance that says otherwise. I stand by my choice.
And for the record, you introduced me to Big Lots...oh, wait. NO, that was Odd Lots. Which was it?
Buying a Chinese-made mechanic's magnet-on-a-stick tool for $4 is one thing. Buying Chinese-made, knockoff candy to hand out to the neighborhood is quite another. And Odd Lots is much better than Big Lots. It was all broken boxes and nasty, half-broken stuff for $1.
They are legit Tootsie-Pops! It's not like I would pass out the tainted chocolate coins from China! Come on, I do have standards when it comes to candy. Especially when we keep any leftovers :-)
Is that where the magnet on a stick came from? I thought it was hand crafted?
Did you not frequent Biggie Lots, as Laura and I called it...during your time at the Dale?! I love Big Lots. We have a nice one here in town. They are legit brand names, just at close out prices! aka-cheap!
Big Lots at the Dale? What's this you say? I don't remember that. IT was however where I had my introduction to Walmart. Like the Hillsdale sign says, "It's the people".
Those aren't Tootsie Pops...look closely they are Totsie Pops.
