Visitors!

Our visitors arrived safe and sound Thursday evening! We do not get to see Mike's Dad and Betty nearly enough so we are very happy that they made the long, long trip up here and only wish they could come visit more often :-)

Today we went on a tour of Michael and Erick's school, followed by lunch at a great restaurant downtown called The Sundance Grill. The weather was nice so after lunch we went on a driving tour of Grand Rapids. As we were pointing out some of the new and/or renovated buildings during our tour I was once again amazed at how quickly this little town seems to have grown in the eight years that we have lived here. And then I think how crazy it is that we have been here for EIGHT years!! It makes me feel old! And then I look at how big Michael and Erick are getting and I feel really old!

The boys have been spoiled by the "present fairy" every day and are the proud owners of a bunch of cool new Star Wars toys that they can hardly put down. Michael even managed to smuggle one to school today after he was specifically told not to (which he denies hearing. Tsk. Tsk.) It's like Christmas come early for them!

This is not to be confused with the Christmas that came early for them, but which was just as quickly taken away, last week when they found my not so cleverly hidden stash of Christmas presents in a closet. They were like little detectives - I wasn't home at the time so they informed Mike that clearly the toys had to be for them as there were two of everything! I suppose this is what I get for trying to get my shopping done early.

I will post some pictures of our visit soon. Michael took some shots of his new toys and has requested that I put them on here as well for all to see. In the meantime, I should have gone to bed about 5 hours ago and need to rest up so I can make a special brunch tomorrow of Eggs Benedict - a family favorite!
