We had a fun visit with Dad and Betty and were sad to see them leave this morning. We went out to breakfast and then sent them on their way for their nice 6 hour drive home. Ugh.
Yesterday, the boys and I took Betty to the Meijer Gardens and were supposed to meet up with Grandpa Lew and Mike there, however somehow they managed to get "stuck" on the other side of town at Gander Mountain and "sadly" could not join us. Strangely enough, they left the house about 5 minutes behind us and were supposed to follow us there. I can only imagine how the conversation went to decide to skip the gardens and the ensuing laughter as they hit the accelerator and drove past the entrance to the gardens continuing on to the sporting goods store. Nicely played boys. I would say that I couldn't see that one coming, but I know you too well.
After the gardens we came back home and relaxed until it was time for our evening entertainment - a Griffins hockey game (GR's minor league team) at the VanAndel Arena. This was our first time going to one of these games and it was a blast. Sadly, our home team lost 4-5, yet we walked away winners! Erick caught one of the prizes they shot out into the audience during the intermission entertainment and took home a coupon for a free appetizer at O'Charley's -- with the purchase of two entrees, of course! There is always a catch. We have never been to this restaurant so it will be fun to try out. Following the game we all came home and crashed.
Mike has managed to find some outdoor activities to keep the boys entertained in Grandpa's absence. Last I saw they were chopping up sticks to make a fire using Daddy's NEW Swedish firesteel, courtesy of their shopping excursion yesterday. I on the other hand came home from breakfast and crashed for a nice, long cozy nap.
Here are some pictures from our visit.
