Happy Valentine's Day!

Well happy, happy Valentine's day to you! The boys each had successful parties/card exchanges at school and have both devoured the candy that they received. I just stayed out of their way. Again with the responsible parenting. I know. It wasn't like they received a huge loot like at Halloween so I don't feel too bad.

Today we enjoyed yet another day of sunshine - I think that brings the total up to 2 for the month. Seriously. Two. I was starting to suffer from light deprivation.

There is an episode in Northern Exposure, perhaps one of the best shows EVER, where Walt is in a terrible mood as a result of a lack of sunlight so he dons a headlamp of sorts providing some artificial sunlight which snaps him out of his horrible mood. I think I am recalling that correctly, and perhaps the whole town gets into it too? Anyway, I was starting to feel that I needed something similar. I tried to find a clip of it, but couldn't. Instead, I found this which was just as pleasing to me:

Why could we not have more shows like this anymore?

Well, tonight I am making a special dinner for my three lovely Valentine's. They will dine on a roast, roasted red potatoes with garlic and rosemary, and wilted spinach followed by dessert of brownies and, if all goes well, chocolate dipped strawberries. And as I haven't started any of it yet I best be on my way.

Happy, happy day to you!

Do you know where this was filmed?

My extensive (or not) research shows it to have been filmed in Roslyn, WA. I am guessing this is Auntie Kris - not to far from your old stomping grounds! Did you ever make it out there?

You are right on both accounts. Yes, we did go there one day. There is the exact street scene from the show...if I remember correctly, there's a big moose painted on a wall. It was such a great show!

Does Michael still have all of the episodes on VHS? The DVD's that were released are expensive and have had the music changed.

We do still all of the VHS tapes and break them out from time to time to watch. Half of the fun is seeing the old commercials!

That is interesting that they changed the music. I was just looking around on ebay at the DVD sets. The music was always such a great part of the show!
