My card shark son

Cheater, cheater. This afternoon Erickson and I were sitting down to a game of Harry Potter Uno. Erickson had dealt the cards and seemed a little too confident as we were getting ready to start. Sensing that something was up, I flipped over the pile of cards that he had set aside for himself and found the following hand:

Meanwhile, this was what I was "dealt". A bunch of "poop cards" as we call them.

He was laughing pretty hard after he got busted and didn't seem to feel too terribly bad about his cheating ways. He was only bummed that he got caught.

And while we are on the topic of Erick, last night Mike got up during the middle of the night to use the bathroom and when he came back he heard what he thought was me crying. However, it was not me crying, but apparently Erick had crawled into our bed at some point and was having a funny dream. He was giggling in his sleep and then he said, "Are you really going to do it?" and laughed some more. It was pretty funny.

Switching over to Michael, I am happy to report that his streak lives on. Every week Michael is given a spelling test which he takes every Friday. He has scored 100% on every test for the whole school year. We are so extremely proud of him and have promised him a fun surprise at the end of the year if he continues with his streak. Go Mikey!

On a musical note, Mike introduced me to a band called Phoenix a while back - a result of either his WOXY or Pandora listening, possibly both. Our radio stations are pretty lame in GR so we have to look to rely on outside sources for good music. I have been listening to one of their albums most of this afternoon and have to say that they are quite fantastic. Most people probably don't know that I consider Mike my own personal DJ, but it's true. He rocks. I added some of their songs to my music playlist should you care to take a listen.

I think the cheater gene runs in the family. I've been the victim of a "coincidental" deal of 5 Draw Four Wild Cards in Uno.
Cheater = Stephen. He's also the kid who wrote "answers may vary" in a summer workbook because he was cheating by looking the answers up in the back of the book.
Failure is not an option!

I did notice that you had one additional card though. Maybe that was some type of restitution. It's all okay...Stephen will protect Erick while serving out their terms for fraud in federal prison.

HA! Cheater, cheater, cheaters. I say we lock the lot of them up. It is particularly funny to watch Michael teach Erick how to play cards - always, always changing the rules. Mike caught Michael telling Erick this weekend that a King, Ace and a two are always the winning cards. Uh-huh, sure.

I like the "answers may vary"!Now that is funny.

I have to tell you, it's funny now, but at the time I thought I was raising a pathological liar!

Yes, it is a rite of passage for an older sibling to tell the younger sibling "variants" of the rules. If I remember correctly, I told Mike that the banker got paid a salary in Monopoly. I was pulling down a cool grand every time I passed "Go" just for holding the title of banker.

I think Mike brings up the fact that you used to cheat him in Monopoly every time we play. That and something about you extorting birthday money from him when he was younger?!??

Michelle, I do recall you pulling a couple of hands like that on me! Guess it runs on both sides of the family...ha! ha! Here I thought it was just Michael, guess I'll have to watch out for Erickson! HA! HA! Love those bugs!!!

Most definitely watch out for Erickson. Unfortunately the younger one has mastered the art of not being truthful quite well. I can usually crack Michael just by looking at him. Erickson on the other hand is another story.
