Father's Night

Mike and Erickson had Father' s Night at preschool last night and had a great time. Erick's teacher has a fun activity that she has the fathers and sons do where they draw a picture and write a few sentences about the other person. Erickson's drawing for Mike especially made us laugh (you can click on the pictures for a larger view):When Mike said to Erick that he knows that Daddy doesn't work for the school and asked why he chose to say that, Erickson replied, "because you work so we can go to school." Which made us laugh because that is what we say when the boys ask why Mike is working late or has to go on an appointment - so we can pay to send them to a good school. Ha! They are listening ;-)

Here is Mike's drawing of Erickson:We learned this week that Erick's teacher will be retiring this year after almost 40 years of teaching. She is a great teacher and I am happy that both Michael and Erickson were able to be her students. The thing about being a teacher for so long is that if you have a program that works you stick with it. And apparently if you are a preschool teacher (or at least ours), you talk to EVERYONE in a voice as if EVERYONE is a preschooler, which parents particularly like - or not.

Mike said that the night was executed exactly how it was three years ago when Michael was there. Which made me want to show you Mike and Michael's artwork from when Mikey was in preschool (they used even the exact same paper):
And Mike' s drawing of Michael which made us all laugh and serves as an early sign of Michael's video gaming addiction. Ha!
Meanwhile, Michael and I stayed home, stuffed our faces with popcorn, watched a little Spiderman and played with Playmobil toys. Right before Mike and Erick returned home, Michael was saying to me that he didn't want to play Playmobil anymore, but wanted to find something, and I quote, "that you are a little better at playing." OUCH. Apparently my character playing days are behind me.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I had to use your gracious link to find out what Playmobil is! You know the little girl I made the flower girl dress for? Well, she was telling me about Wii and said, "you probably wouldn't be very good at it!"

You live in a house full or artists! Nice work boys:)

That art work is priceless. My Michael has just taught me how to play lego star wars on the wii. He kindly tells me that I need to drop out, and he will just do it himself when it is time to double jump. Then he informs me when it is safe for me to join back in. We may not be good but at least they still want to play something with us. :) Robin

Mike is probably 23? What a cute dyslexic kid you have. :)

I think you should consider holding Big Mike back a year or two...his art work has not progressed as we had hoped. The handwriting is not so great either.

If the kids report to the teacher that their daddy is 18, what else must they "distort" and tell the teacher. You owe her some big hush money!!

And, for the record, I think Little Michael did some major Kung Fu to Erick for the snow ball incident. The blood was a nice touch. I'm sure Erick will back off for a few years.

I am glad the boys didn't get their drawing talent from Mike. :)

I like how Mike has aged 5 years in 7. Where do I jump on that band wagon?

Okay, so I can't add... 5 years in 3. I don't want to be on that wagon.
